I'd been working for a few months at the Insurance firm when the man who hired me approached and began, "Summer, I was thinking about you this morning in the shower..."
I interrupted him. He was a man of Korean descent, adopted at so early an age, he had no recollection of Korea. He was 5'6", wore expensive suits and spoke in a purposeful, robotic pattern.
"Uhm, do you want to start over?"
"I was in the shower this morning... and I was thinking about you..."
"No, start over. Trust me."
"I was thinking of you? This morning? In the shower?"
If you ever need to tell an employee that you plan to give them a manual to look over, do not breech the subject in this manner.
